Leon Schenker, CPAPartner
Leon is a graduate of Bernard Baruch College, and earned an MBA in Taxation from New York University. He is a certified CPA in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Besides being a partner at the firm, Leon is also the CTO (Chief technology officer). He is an avid techie always looking for the next top of the line product. Leon and his wife Miriam have four children who all attended top universities in their fields (Harvard Law, MIT, Cooper Union, YU Stern). In his free time Leon enjoys traveling, crossword puzzles and trading. Leon is President of Thames Asset Managment, a registered investment adviser. When not working diligently on his clients accounting needs, he is busy buying and selling for his clients’ portfolios.
Milton Rosenblatt, CPA
PartnerMilton is a graduate of Adelphi University, and is a certified CPA in New York and New Jersey. He began his career in Philadelphia where he lived for six years and met his wife. Milton then moved to NJ when an opportunity arose to become a partner in a CPA firm. He is an active member in his synagogue in Bergen county and has been an officer including the treasurer for many years. Milton enjoys traveling especially going on cruises all over the world. In his free time Milton enjoys playing golf even though it is questionable that the game he plays is golf. He jokes constantly that “A good day is a net loss of two balls or less.”
Jay H. Guttmann, CPA
Jay started his career at PriceWaterhouse Coopers, Legg Mason & BDO Seidman where he worked in various departments, mainly financial services. He has been serving clients in accounting, tax & auditing at various Fortune 500 companies as well as local businesses and organizations. Jay is a graduate of Sy Syms School of Business where he was actively involved in student life on campus. He held various positions in the school including class president, Business school treasurer and Head Resident Advisor. Jay was a certified EMT in the US & Israel, but is currently a non-active member.
Jay specializes and devotes a substantial amount of his time consulting and planning with clients in the real estate and not-for profit industry. Jay is also lead in the firms New Business Formation and the Credits & Incentives programs. He provides tax and consulting advice to many of the firm's individual and small business clients as well as works on the firms financial statement audits, Part time CFO program, and estate and trust issues.
Recently, Jay started the firms “SOS! Second Opinion Services”, a complimentary consultation program in which business and individuals can have their returns reviewed. This program has benefited countless new clients saving them thousands of dollars.
Jay is a licensed CPA in the State of New York and New Jersey.
Miriam has worked with Leon for almost as long as they have been married. Although her official title might be office manager, Miriam primarily deals with the internal bookkeeping for the firm. Outside of the office she keeps very busy with family and friends. She may be spotted around town on one of her many walks. Joy A. Firshein
Joy has been a member of the Schenker and Rosenblatt team since Fall 2007. Joy duties include Customer Service & Client Relations, accounts payable/receivable, Investment Reporting, Account Management, Account Reconciliation, Month end closing and quarterly and annual Payroll Filing.
Joy works directly with Leon Schenker as the first contact during tax appointments, streamlining the return to facilitate more client quality time with the partner. She is responsible for direct training and evaluation of new employees in the areas of accounting/bookkeeping procedures and office administration. Joy schedules private training sessions for clients who wish to learn or improve their Quickbooks Skills. She also remotely logs into many clients to oversee their Monthly Bookkeeping: bank transaction imports, credit card imports and month-end closings. Joy is married and lives in Teaneck New Jersey. She is a life time member of the Girl Scouts of America and active in her synagogue, Temple Emeth.
Jeff is a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston, MA. After graduation, he worked for Deloitte & Touche, LLP and subsequently, went to work for a client in the Real Estate Development and Property Management industry. In doing so, he became a Vice President that oversaw the accounting and finance for over 170 commercial, industrial and residential properties. After a brief time in retail, Jeff became a member of the Schenker & Rosenblatt team in 1996. He oversees and performs audits, reviews and compilations. In addition, he prepares corporate, partnership, trust, non-profit and individual tax returns. In his free time, Jeff is an avid golfer.
Melina Williams, Office Administrator/Bookkeeper
Melina joined the Schenker & Rosenblatt team in September 2013. She provides bookkeeping and payroll services for our clients, assists in tax preparation, as well as administrative services for our office. Melina is currently working towards her accounting degree to further expand her knowledge and eventually become a Certified Public Accountant. She has become an invaluable asset to our firm. She is married and has a daughter who is her inspiration to succeed and advance in her career.
Joshua Goldstein, CPA
Josh is a graduate of the Sy Syms School of Business where he earned his bachelors degree in accounting. Josh spent 7 years at EisnerAmper LLP where he was a manager overseeing tax returns and financial statements, as well as providing accounting and consulting services. He is a certified public accountant. Josh enjoys playing soccer and was on school teams both in high school and college. When he is not at work he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children.
Heather Fineman, CPA
Heather, a licensed CPA in New York, graduated Pace University Magna Cum Laude where she earned her bachelors degree in accounting. Heather spent 5 years at Ernst & Young LLP becoming a manager in the assurance and auditing department servicing clients in the technology and media industries. After starting a family, Heather continued her career for 7 years at another public accounting firm as a manager of auditing and financial reporting while expanding her accounting knowledge in tax return preparation and tax planning for both individual and business clients. When not at work, Heather enjoys spending time with her family.
